Welcome to Pollok…Ewan McNeil

Pollok can today confirm that Ewan McNeil has become manager Tony McInally’s 3rd signing of the summer. The 24 year old full back who left Stirling Albion earlier this month featured in all but one of Albion’s games last season. Ewan signs on a two year deal and will join up with his teammates as they return from their break next Saturday for the beginning of pre-season training.

On signing, Ewan said;

I’m really excited to sign for Pollok. It’s a big club and there’s some really good players here. I had options to stay in the SPFL but once I had met with Pollok a few times I knew this was the right move for both football and personal reasons. It will be good to meet everyone next week at pre-season training and I’m looking forward to being part of the team. Hopefully we can make this coming season a successful one!

After coming through the ranks at Rangers, McNeil also counts two seasons at Norwich City and spells with Brechin, Berwick and Clyde on his footballing CV.

Welcome to Pollok…Shaun Fraser & Danny MacKenzie

Pollok are delighted to confirm this evening the signings of Shaun Fraser and Danny MacKenzie. 

The players, most recently teammates at Kirkintilloch Rob Roy will be familiar to many Pollok fans. 

Fraser (pictured), a midfielder, has made 60 appearances for Rob Roy over the past two seasons scoring 17 goals. Shaun will join up with the squad as they start pre-season training on Saturday 7th July. On signing, Shaun said;

“I’ve obviously played against Pollok a few times now and had some good battles over the past few seasons. Newlandsfield is a great place to play and Pollok are a big club.”

His teammate Danny MacKenzie is a versatile defender who has made over 160 appearances for Rob Roy in the last 5 seasons. Danny will join up with the squad later in the summer.

Youth players added to first team squad

Ahead of the new season, Pollok are delighted to announce the signings of ‘keeper Scott Johnson and defender Tony Coutts on dual contracts for the 2018-19 season. The players, both products of the youth academy, rejoin the first team after being part of the squad in the second half of last season.

Scott Johnson made his debut for Pollok in the January Scottish Cup win away to Rossvale, keeping a clean sheet in the process. He went on to make another 7 appearances for the first team as cover for the injured Jordan Longmuir.

Tony Coutts is yet to make an appearance for the first team but served last season as captain to the league winning Under 19’s side.

The players join academy graduate Mohamed Niang in the squad for the forthcoming season.

Wharton moves on

The club can announce this afternoon that Bryan Wharton has now left the club and has signed for Albion Rovers.

The club would like to thank Bryan for his contribution since signing for the club and wish him all the very best in the future.

Newlandsfield departures

The club can confirm Liam Rowan, Derek Hepburn, Nicky Little and Paul Byrne have all left the club following the conclusion of the 2017-18 season.

Jordan Brown has also left the club following his loan spell from Cumbernauld Utd.

Manager Tony McInally commented “I’d like to thank the players for their contribution during their time at the club. We wish them all the very best in the future.

Del Hepburn signed for the club in summer 2015 from Vale of Clyde and will be remembered for his last gasp heroics as Pollok lifted the West of Scotland Cup in 2017.

Liam joined the club in February 2016 after previous spells with Falkirk, Arbroath and Stranraer.

Paul and Nicky both joined the club last summer from Hurlford Utd and Clydebank respectively.

Striker signs on for the new campaign

Pollok are delighted to announce that Stefan McCluskey has agreed a deal to stay at the club for season 2018-19. The exciting forward has a wealth of senior experience under his belt with Greenock Morton, Clyde and Alloa amongst others.

Stefan has made 29 appearances for Pollok this season scoring 16 goals. Most recently he scored a first half hat-trick in the 11-0 win away to Saltcoats in the West of Scotland Cup.

 

Sena signs up for another year

The club are delighted to announce that Pollok academy graduate Mouhamed ‘Sena’ Niang has signed up to play for Pollok again next season. After signing a dual contract with the first team last summer, the Senegalese midfielder has gone on to make 11 appearances for Pollok.

Niang, the first player to move from the academy to the first team squad, has been joined this season by fellow U19 players, Scott Johnson, Tony Coutts and Nathan McGarvey.

Brash and McGregor extend stay

The club are delighted to announce that midfielders Ross Brash and Ryan McGregor are the latest players to extend their stay at Newlandsfield into the 2018-19 season.

Ross Brash joined Pollok last summer from Hurlford Utd and has made 20 appearances scoring 2 goals this term. Ross was also part of the Pollok quartet who represented Scotland in the Umbro Quadrangular tournament playing in all three internationals and scoring a last minute winner against Ireland.

Ryan McGregor arrived for his second spell at Pollok in September 2017. Over his two spells in 2009-10 and 17-18, he has made 44 appearances for the ‘Lok weighing in with 8 goals.

Sideserf and Evans sign new deals

Defenders Grant Evans and Mark Sideserf have become the latest players to commit to Pollok for season 2018-2019. They join Gary and Stuart McCann who agreed to extend their Newlandsfield stay last week.

Mark signed for Pollok in the summer of 2015 from Irvine Meadow and has made 98 appearances, scoring 13 goals. He was called up and represented the Scottish Junior national team in October’s Quadrangular tournament.

Grant, who will join us for his 3rd season at the club has so far made 43 appearances in the black and white of Pollok.

More news soon as next season’s squad begins to take shape.

McCann brothers sign on for next season

The squad for the 2018-19 season has begun to take shape with brothers Gary and Stuart McCann committing themselves to Pollok for next season.

This will be Gary’s third season with the club since signing from Irvine Meadow in the summer of 2016. He has made 66 appearances for Pollok scoring 14 goals and assisting many more in the process. Gary was also called up to the Scotland squad for the Junior Quadrangular Tournament last October.

Stuart signed last summer from Petershill and has impressed in the first team scoring 8 goals in 26 appearances.

On the news of these first re-signings for next year, manager Tony McInally had this to say;

“I’m delighted to tie Gary and Stuart up for another season. Gary has proven himself to be one of the best wide players in the league and is unplayable on his day. Stuart has come in and really made his mark in the second half of the season. He’s a joy to work with at training and we hope he can continue to improve next year.”

“We’ve held talks with others in the squad and should be able to announce some more names soon”
