Contract extension for Barron

Pollok are pleased to confirm that a contract extension has been agreed with David Barron which will keep him at the club next season.

The former St Mirren defender signed for the club last summer and although his season was cut short by a serious injury, manager Murdie MacKinnon was delighted to keep the experienced defender at Newlandsfield and believes his best days at Pollok are very much ahead of him;

I am delighted to welcome David back for a second season at the club. He is an outstanding footballer who’s wealth of experience and tremendous quality will be a welcomed boost to the squad.

Last season ended with a horrendous injury for him but I have to credit David’s determination, attitude, desire and work ethic. This has ensured that he will return stronger and fitter than ever. I look forward to David making a huge contribution to the cause next season as I know how desperate he is to pay back the club and supporters for their support!

Meanwhile, our Donate a Ticket page is still up and running. All funds go directly to the club and they are especially appreciated at a time when our main source of income (gate receipts) is not available. If you are able, any donation is welcome.

David Barron to miss time

During the first half of yesterday’s match David Barron sustained an injury to his elbow. He was taken to hospital and has been kept in overnight where he will undergo surgery today. He will spend at least another day or two in hospital. Thanks to the physio staff at yesterday’s game and all the staff at the hospital for their care.

Everyone at Pollok would like to wish Div all the best and a speedy recovery.

Welcome to Pollok…David Barron

Pollok FC are delighted to announce the signing of defender, David Barron.

A vastly experienced player, David racked up over 120 appearances for St Mirren, with 99 of those coming in the Scottish Premier League. He has also had spells with Stranraer, Greenock and most recently, Hurlford Utd.

Murdie was delighted to confirm the signing and had the following to say;

“We’ve got a terrific defender in David. Without a doubt he put in the best performance by an opposition player at Newlandsfield last year, a real shining star of the 18/19 season. He’ll be a big asset and his experience will be invaluable to us”
